For 2017, CMS has introduced two new complex CCM billing codes. The first, CPT code 99487, is essentially the same as the existing 99490, except it requires additional complex decision making and additional care plan management. It also requires 60 minutes of non-face-to-face monthly care versus the 20 minutes required under 99490. The second complex code (CPT 99489) allows you to bill for each additional 30-minutes beyond 99487's initial 60 minutes. If you don't plan on billing anyone in January using these new complex CCM billing codes, do nothing. Dulcian Health will drop all of your claims under 99490 as usual.

However, some of you may already have patients eligible for billing under these new complex CCM codes. If so, email a list of those patient IDs to [email protected] before February 1st. We'll exclude them from our month-end billing process so you can drop those claim yourself. (Please note: we now process claims at the end of each month to maximize your reimbursements).
